Traditional Braces

Chester Springs Family Dentistry can provide comprehensive orthodontic treatment (braces) to all our patients. Dr. Jen Bush is certified in the Differential Straight-Arch technique and can provide Phase 1 (interceptive) and Phase 2 (comprehensive) treatment to teens as well as adults.

When should my child be evaluated for orthodontics?

If your child develops an open bite, sucks their thumb, has a noticeable tongue thrust or you are otherwise concerned about the development of your child’s teeth, no matter what the age, contact us right away for a pre-orthodontic visit with Dr. Bush. Otherwise, children should be evaluated by the age of 6. If your child sees us for routine care, we will perform an orthodontic screening during each periodic exam at their routine cleaning visit.

In the past, a child was 11 or 12 before brackets were actually placed on the teeth to straighten them. This still holds true in most cases, but there are new techniques that can correct problems early, while a child is still growing. This may eliminate the need for braces or shorten the period of time in braces in the future.
